PRAYER
SEMINAR

"The Listening Life: Hearing God & Praying with Purpose"

August 9, 2025

9am-2:30pm

The Listening Life Prayer Seminar is designed to help you understand the simplicity of prayer; from how God speaks to you individually, to how you respond within His will.  We will talk about several styles or methods of prayer.  There will be exercises and activities during each session to help you understand these prayers styles and which works best for you.

If you're asking, "Why different prayer styles, isn't prayer, prayer?"  Yes, however just as God created us all to be unique, our prayer life with Him should also be unique.  Talking with God is not a cookie cutter prayer model. We should each adapt our prayers to fit the personality God gave us.  This seminar will teach basic prayers that you can adapt and build on as you learn how God speaks to you, and as your relationship with Him grows.

Schedule

Session 1 - How God Speaks to You

A teaching on different types of prayer and the importance of each.  A discussion on the most common ways God talks to you.  There will be 2 exercises to give you the opportunity to hear God speaking to you.

Session 2 - Five Step Prayer Model

A brief teaching on what this prayer model is and a description each step.  There will be a live demonstration and then an activity to give you the opportunity to walk through each step.

Break for Lunch (provided free at church)

Session 3 - Healing Emotions and How to Approach People in Public

A brief teaching on understanding emotions and their role as reactions to events going on in our lives.  We will discuss ways to recognize these emotions and now to respond to them in a Godly manner.  There will be a brief walkthrough of 2 more prayer styles or models, followed by a  live demonstration and an exercise to give you the opportunity to apply 1 or both of these prayer styles.  This session will also include a discussion on how to take everything we learn outside the church. You will learn practical ways to approach someone in public when prompted by God.
